Ljubljana’s Medical Faculty has a dedicated Section for tropical and travel medicine. As a student, I had the opportunity to be part of a humanitarian-medical expedition to Madagascar, where I worked as a dentist. Our team also included four young doctors. We were living in Matanga, a small village in the south-eastern part of the country, where they have a catholic mission. This gallery contains mostly photos from the journey to Matanga, our work in the clinic and life in the village and nearby towns. July – September 2013.
We went to Bolivia to do voluntary work in the hospital San Juan de Dios in La Paz – workshops, games, sports, music, teaching in school etc. During our six weeks long stay we also took our time to explore the country: the streets of La Paz, Lake Titicaca, Salar de Uyuni, south Altiplano, the “El Choro” Inca trekking trail through the Andes and Amazon’s savannah, the Pampas. Bolivia is geographically diverse and strikingly beautiful. This gallery is a mix of color and BW digital photos as well as photos from color and BW films. July – August 2015.
Probably the most culturally diverse country I have been to, mostly because of all the historical influences, from Assyrian to Ottoman and now European. This can be seen through architecture, in museums and in the Cappadocian landscape, but on the streets one comes face to face with modern Turkish culture: generally nice locals and aggressive merchants. This gallery contains pictures from Cappadocia, Ankara and Istanbul. Every picture was taken on film, either on Kodak Ektar 100 or Ilford Delta 100. December 2015.
A country of colours and incense. A trip with Anja through Delhi, Rajastan, Agra, Varanasi and Kolkata. The desert cities of Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Jaipur in their soaring heat before the arrival of the monsoon season, too hot for tourists and festivals. A beautiful Blue City. The Holy River Ganga. A colourful Flower Market. People. An intense experience, captured on both a DSLR and Kodak Ektar 100. May – June 2016.
Slovenia’s mountains are one of the most beautiful things our country has to offer. While most landscape photographers prefer to show mountains in the gleaming morning light, I want to take you to them through the eyes of people who endeavor the sometimes hard path towards the summit. The majority of these pictures were taken with various films, mostly AGFA Vista Plus 200.
